Virtually every room has water damage at the ceiling/wall juncture, and several rooms have water damage at any vent or other object point of entry.
Why? Because the roof isn't sealed properly in more than a dozen areas. The attic is fraught with water damage on both layers (there are two roofs in this home, one build over the other during one of the expansions).
The water damage has been painted over with Kilz (a mold/mildew killer/inhibitor).
Based on the very few home improvements seen in the house, the lack of craftsmanship and/or quality of the work that has occurred, it is my opinion that the current owner either lacks the skill to fix problems, or lack of knowledge to comprehend what must be repaired/maintained.
If the roofing pictures didn't convince you of leakage, the attic photos should. The roof is in an unsafe condition, requiring not only shingles, but sheathing in many areas. Some of the rafters are rotted from water damage that they need secondary shoring. The licensed inspector was very clear that this attic is a danger to health and safety.
Check out the below images of the interior of the attic to see the gross damage caused by leakage. During our inspection, one area of the attic was still wet, although it had not rained in Las Vegas for more than a month!
